Matthew 6

Jesus continues His teachings in Matthew 6. There is so much to consider in this chapter! Today's devotion focuses on Matthew 6:25-34.

Jesus knows how easily we are consumed by worry. Whether it is bills, health, family, or the future, anxiety often weighs us down. Yet Jesus reminds us of something simple but powerful: your Father knows what you need.

The same God who clothes the lilies and feeds the birds is watching over you. His promise is not that you will never face trouble, but that He will be faithful in providing what is needed. More than food and clothing, He provides what is most necessary: His own righteousness through Jesus Christ.

To “seek first the kingdom of God” is to keep our eyes fixed on Christ—the One who lived, died, and rose again for us. Because of Him, we already have what the world cannot give: forgiveness of sins, peace with God, and eternal life. With that assurance, we can face each day in confidence, free from paralyzing worry.

Questions for Reflection

  • What worries weigh most heavily on you right now? How might you lay them before the Lord in prayer?

  • What does it look like in your daily life to “seek first the kingdom of God”?

Prayer

Gracious Father, You know our needs before we ask. Forgive us for the times we give in to fear and worry. Teach us to trust You more fully. Help us to seek Your kingdom first, knowing that in Christ we already have every blessing. Strengthen our faith and give us peace as we walk with You each day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
