Matthew 1

We can tend to ignore the genealogies in the Bible, but Jesus’ family tree is very interesting. It includes an idolater, a prostitute and some other unsavory characters. But through it all, God the Father kept His promise. He was using ordinary and broken people to be the

people who would bring the Savior into the world. And, in the coming of Jesus, God was literally with us and still is.

 Questions to consider:

· God uses broken people to accomplish His plans and carry out His purposes. What does that say to you?

· Jesus is Emmanuel “God with us.” What does that mean to you as you go through life? How does it impact your life?

He uses broken people for his plan. Maybe He can use this broken person.

We are told God knew us before we were born and had plans for us. I often wonder what his plan for me was and did I fulfill it.

Rahab, a Gentile is part of the gemology. Jesus is a savior for all peoples. Then there is Zerubbabel, a common ancestor for both Mary and Joseph, giving Jesus the legal status in Jewish law. God plans even the smallest details.
